Raymond Wigell Has Filed Motion Against Court Ruling to Dismiss Dr. Semmerling’s Case
Chicago, IL Wigell Law Group October 9, 2019 – A motion was filed on October 9, 2019, in the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois by Raymond Wigell of Wigell Law Group. This motion requests the court reconsider its ruling to dismiss Dr. Semmerling’s case against the Government and Cheryl Bormann.
Dr. Tim Jon Semmerling, a legal consultant for a GITMO detainee, had filed a $26 million suit against Cheryl T. Bormann and certain US government employees. Dr. Semmerling is claiming that the defendants’ actions put his life in danger. The case was dismissed by an Illinois federal judge on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Raymond Wigell, in the filing of his motion to reconsider, says that he urges the US District Court to reconsider its ruling dismissing his client’s claims against the Government and Cheryl Bormann, and looks forward to further briefing. Wigell stated, “The fight is far from over. We will not give up on our quest for justice for Dr. Semmerling, whose entire career and multiple decades of education in this area were laid to waste by the actions of Bormann and the Government. We intend to pursue this both within the court system, as far as we are able, as well as the court of public opinion. There was grave wrongdoing here, and Dr. Semmerling has and continues to suffer as a result of it. The actions complained of are egregious, and our government cannot be permitted to hang its own citizens out to dry and endanger their lives like this.” Wigell has been working with Dr. Semmerling on this case for 2 years and he will continue to advocate for his client.
